The Dragon was tested in two of the most demanding environments imaginable: Coachella and Burning Man. At Coachella, the challenge was extreme agility, operating under an exceptionally limited time window where rapid deployment and absolute precision were critical. At Burning Man, the test shifted to endurance, with the Dragon exposed for weeks to harsh outdoor conditions including heat, water, sand, and storms. In both cases, the Dragon performed flawlessly, demonstrating not only its aesthetic strength but also its reliability, efficiency, and resilience under extreme circumstances.
Coachella / At Coachella, the challenge was to execute an installation almost entirely from scratch on a completely empty stage, within a strict time limit of 28 minutes. To achieve this, a dedicated rapid-installation system was developed, including custom-built dollies and cranes, and the process was rehearsed over several days with precise team coordination. Ultimately, the installation was completed in under 10 minutes, turning the act of installation itself into a performance and a spectacle in its own right.

Burning Man / At Burning Man 2025, several unprecedented milestones took place. For the first time, we publicly unveiled the new 5-meter modules, breaking the previous 3-meter limitation per strand and opening the possibility for much larger vertical extensions. This marked the debut of the first 5-meter-tall Dragon in a real-world context. In collaboration with Silas Beta, the Dragon was also tested in true outdoor conditions, facing one of the harshest environments imaginable. Over two intense weeks, the installation endured extreme and rapidly changing weather, from severe sandstorms to heavy rainstorms. Throughout this entire period, the Dragon remained standing and operated flawlessly until the very end.

Coachella / The key aspect was the construction of three custom dollies, each carrying 12 modules. These dollies were engineered to move the three Dragon bodies directly into their final stage positions while also allowing transport in standard trucks, ensuring smooth logistics with no delays or complications. Each set of 12 modules was pre-assembled and fully cabled, so once positioned, the motors and hoists simply lowered the power and signal lines into place. This hardware design enabled an installation that could be deployed in under 15 minutes and transported seamlessly in a touring context, without compromising reliability or efficiency.

Burning Man / The hardware consisted of eight 5-meter-tall modules arranged around a central mirrored column and combined with a tree structure, forming a 7-meter-high trunk. In this configuration, the Dragon modules acted as the trunk, while coordinated LED bars extended outward as the tree’s branches. To withstand the extreme outdoor conditions, a custom protective enclosure was engineered specifically for the Dragon. This solution was developed in collaboration with Sila Sveta, who joined the project and worked closely with us on the engineering process required to safeguard the installation against harsh weather.
Coachella / Multiple clips were prepared and structured by song as pre-recorded scenes, designed to be triggered live via MIDI controllers. The content was developed primarily using the render engines of Unity and TouchDesigner, while the final playback and execution were handled through Resolume, controlled in real time via MIDI controllers.

Burning Man / The software was designed with a direct connection to the other elements of the installation, specifically DMX-controlled LED tube systems that functioned as the tree’s branches. In both projects, the overall system was driven by an audio-reactive setup, creating a direct link to the live improvisation of the DJs invited to the festival.
Coachella / The Coachella staging featured a theatrical, scenographic approach, in which the three Dragon bodies moved vertically throughout the performance. Each scene followed a distinct and specific narrative, carefully coordinated and synchronized with the other stage elements, while always responding to the emotional dynamics of the live performance through MIDI controller interaction.

Bunring Man / At Burning Man, spontaneity is an essential part of the festival’s flow, rooted in natural expression and collective connection. In this context, the system was fully designed for extreme improvisation and real-time musical interpretation, both through audio-reactive behavior and through performative interfaces where human input remains indispensable.
